A custom pet portrait starts at $59 for a ready-to-hang stretched canvas and $89 with a solid wood floating frame. Price depends only on the size and finish you pick — there is no separate design or setup fee, and no charge to see your portrait first. Thirteen sizes are available, from a 9×12″ desk piece up to a 24×36″ statement wall, and shipping is free on every order.
How to make a custom pet portrait
The whole thing takes a couple of minutes and you see the result before you decide.
- Upload one clear photo. A well-lit, front-facing shot where your pet’s face fills a good part of the frame works best. Phone photos are perfect.
- Pick a theme. Nine to choose from, including royal & renaissance, a dog in a suit and game day.
- See your preview free. We create several versions in that theme so you can choose the one that looks most like them.
- Choose size and frame, and we print and ship it to you.
How long does a pet portrait take to arrive?
Your preview is ready in a few minutes. Once you order, allow 2–5 business days for us to print, stretch and pack your canvas, plus 3–6 business days in transit within the US — typically 5–11 business days from order in total. Every order ships tracked, and you will get a tracking link by email as soon as it leaves the studio.
Which pets and photos work best?
Dogs and cats are the most popular by far, but the process works for any pet you have a clear photo of — rabbits, horses, birds and reptiles all come out beautifully. One pet per portrait gives the strongest result. What matters far more than the camera is the light: a photo taken near a window or outdoors in shade, with your pet looking towards you, gives us the detail we need for their eyes and the texture of their coat. Dark, blurry or heavily backlit photos are the usual reason a portrait doesn’t look quite like them.
Cats are harder to photograph than dogs, and every theme on this page works from a cat photo. If you have one, see the cat portrait before-and-afters — including a black cat and an odd-eyed white, the two cases people most often assume won’t work.
A portrait as a gift or a memorial
A pet portrait is one of the few gifts that cannot be bought anywhere else, which is what makes it work for birthdays, adoption anniversaries, housewarmings and Christmas. If you are ordering as a memorial, take your time choosing the photo — the one that captures how they actually were is usually better than the most technically perfect one. Can I see it before I buy?
Yes. You see your portrait, in your chosen theme, before you pay anything — and if it doesn’t look right you can try a different photo or a different theme at no cost.
What if my portrait arrives damaged?
We’ll send a free replacement or a full refund, and you don’t need to return the damaged canvas. Because every portrait is printed for one specific order we can’t take change-of-mind returns, which is exactly why the preview comes first and costs nothing. Full details are in our return policy.
How is the canvas made?
Fade-resistant pigment inks on acid-free gallery canvas, stretched over solid wood bars with the hanging hardware already fitted. Framed portraits add a pine floating frame in white, black or brown. Everything is printed to order at the facility closest to your delivery address.
Can I order more than one?
Yes — upload a separate photo for each pet and each one gets its own portrait. Many people order a matching set in the same theme so they hang together as a group.
